* Is concerned with the //long-term direction// of the firm.
* Deals with the //overall plan for deploying the resources that a firm possesses//.
* Entails the willingness to make //trade-offs//, to choose between different directions and between different ways of deploying resources.
* About achieving //unique positioning// vis-a-vis competitors.
* Has a goal to achive a sustainable competitive advantage over rivals and thereby to ensure lasting protifability

Strategy can be defined at different levels within a cooperation:
* Corporate level strategy
** Concerned with overall purpose and scope of the firm
* Business unit strategy
** Concerned with dealing how to compete within individual markets
* Operational strategy
** Deals with how to implement a business unit strategy
